Under water hockey can be played by anyone who has basic water confidence within a 2 metre deep, 25 metre x 12 metre swimming pool environment. Male and female players* can participate in club games so long as they can swim a distance of 50 metres free style without swimming aids.

Previous snorkeling experience is an advantage but it is not a requirement and only a basic level of fitness is required to enjoy this sport. New players tend to rapidly develop “under water hockey” fitness after having played as little as 6 to 8 games.

Players can play as often or as little as they want with the teams being decided just before the start of most games.
